DHANGADHI, NOVEMBER 1

Seventy aspiring entrepreneurs have been selected for an intensive business incubation programme following a three-day conference aimed at transforming local ideas into investable enterprises in Sudurpashchim Province.

The conference, organised by the Incubation Centre of Kailali Multiple Campus under Sudurpashchim University, attracted hundreds of young participants from across the province. Of those selected for the next phase, 35 are students of the campus and 35 are from outside.

The selected participants will undergo specialised training and mentoring from subject experts over the next 90 days to help develop their business ideas into viable enterprises.

Held under the theme "From Local Potential to Investable Enterprises", the programme focused on practical aspects of entrepreneurship, including business planning, investment management, access to financing, loan procedures and presentation skills. Particular emphasis was placed on supporting returnee migrant workers and young graduates seeking alternatives to traditional employment.

Organisers said participants were not required to have a registered business or detailed proposal to take part. Instead, they were encouraged to present ideas based on local resources, skills and opportunities, allowing early-stage entrepreneurs to test concepts before investors and experts.

During the programme, participants received entrepreneurship training before presenting their business ideas during a Demo Day and investor interaction sessions.

Rajendra Bir Chand, coordinator of the organising committee, said the initiative was designed to help young people transform innovative ideas into sustainable businesses. Participant Rajan Bhatta described the programme as a valuable opportunity to learn how to build and present a business concept.

Organised with support from the National Planning Commission and the Sudurpashchim provincial government, the event brought together local governments, financial institutions, private-sector representatives and development partners.

Kailali Multiple Campus chief Dr Lok Bahadur Bista said the broader goal was to promote enterprises built around local resources and technology while creating employment opportunities within the province.
