KATHMANDU, AUGUST 25

The husband of a Nepali American woman who had been missing for four weeks has been arrested on suspicion of concealing a dead body in Virginia, USA.

The Manassas Park Police arrested Naresh Bhatt on Thursday in connection with the disappearance of his wife, Mamta Kafle Bhatt (28), a pediatric nurse who was last seen on July 27.

The couple has a week-old infant daughter, who has been taken into the care of the Department of Social Services, following his arrest.

Authorities have not confirmed the discovery of a body but indicated that Naresh Bhatt may have somehow concealed one. Police confirmed that his arrest was "in connection with her disappearance," according to NBC News.

Mamta's co-workers first reported her missing on August 2 when she did not show up for work. When police visited the home, Naresh Bhatt claimed he last saw his wife on July 31 but did not report her missing. Mamta was officially declared missing on August 8.

There has been no activity on her credit cards or phone since her disappearance, according to police quoted by NBC News.

"The Manassas Park Police Department is still investigating the disappearance of Mamta Kafle Bhatt and hoping to locate her," stated the Manassas Park Police Department.
