SOLUKHUMBU: Icefall doctors have made their way to the Mount Everest base camp to carve out a safe route for the mountaineers to  scale the world's highest peak.

A team of 10 icefall doctors left for the base camp from Namche, Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee (SPCC) Programme Officer Kapindra Rai said.

The SPCC has been authorised to make a route up to the Mount Everest camp II.

The route was severely damaged in the avalanche triggered by April 25 earthquake.

The mountaineering expedition to the highest peak in the world remained disrupted for two consecutive years due to adverse weather condition.

Sixteen climbers were killed in a deadly avalanche that struck the Everest base camp in April 2014.
