Illegal custody slur on Parsa police
Birgunj, January 16:
The zonal police office has been accused of keeping three persons in custody without legal procedure for the last two months.
The Parsa district police held Pramod Kumar Yadav of Bhardah Raxaul in India and Harpatganj VDC resident Anwar Ansari for illegal possession of a pistol and seven rounds of ammunition. The two have accused police of not following procedure and keeping them in custody for two months. Speaking to the media, Yadav claimed that he was a worker in Bara-based Jagdamba Chemicals and that the police had held him wrongfully and had been torturing him.
Ansari claimed he was a Maoist PLA fighter and that the police held him, along with two others, at Parwanipur. PLA fighter Krishna Prasad Kushwaha, who was held with Ansari is in custody of the zonal police office. They were arrested while they were returning home from the Jutpani PLA cantonment in Chitwan district.
SSP Ramesh Shekhar Bajracharya said the three were held today and probe into their antecedents was on.
Meanwhile, two cadres of the Jwala Singh faction of the JTMM were held from the house of Dashrath Shah in Kumhal Tole.
