Illicit relationship leads Kailali woman to suicide

DHANGADHI: Police investigations revealed that an illicit relationship caused a woman to commit suicide in Dhangadhi of Kailali district recently.

Organising a press conference, the Kailali District Police Office revealed conclusions of police investigation into the suicide case of Monika Chaudary in Dhangadhi.

Chaudary (24) of Udasipur VDC in Kailali district, who was an employer at Ashish Mobile Gallery in Dhangadhi, had committed suicide by hanging on April 14.

Police said Monika and her employer Tohit Siddique were in illicit relationship. Siddique had promised her to tie the knot, but later took advantage of her innocence to quench his thirst for sex.

They had sex and she conceived the child.

Later, he forced the woman to take some emergency contraceptive pills to abort the child. However, the woman did not want to do so, but could not see any way-out. She therefore committed suicide, argued SP Rajendra Bista at the press meet.

The woman was working in his shop for past four years.

Police had initiated investigation after a brother of the deceased had filed an FIR after the incident.

According to SP Bista, police have recovered the mobile phone used by the deceased and as well as her suicide note from the incident site.

Police have arrested Siddique for further investigation.
