Two die in mishaps:
BHAKTAPUR: Two-year-old Sanjiv Raut, son of Sanu Bhai Raut of Tathali VDC-5 of Bhaktapur, fell into a ditch filled with water and drowned on Wednesday afternoon, according to the police. In another incident, one Bishnu Bhakta Bhoyaju of Jhaukhel VDC-5 died when he fell off a running minibus at Jhaukhel on Wednesday morning. The driver of the bus Devin Bahadur Basukala, has been arrested and the minibus seized according to the district police office, Bhaktapur. — RSS
Communities get schools:
MYAGDI: The District Education Office, Myagdi, has handed over 91 schools to various communities here as per the policy of transforming public schools into commmunity ones. There are 235 schools, including 160 primary, 30 secondary and 11 higher secondary schools. Out of this, 91 schools have been handed over to the local community as per the 2050 guidelines related to managing schools. According to the District Education Office, Myagdi, 60 primary schools, 20 secondary schools and 11 higher secondary schools have been fully handed over to the communities. — RSS
Construction stalled:
LEKHNATH: Construction work on an alternative bridge over the Bijayapur river to link Pokhara and Lekhnath municipalities is stalled due to lack of funds. The construction had started on Jesth 30, 2060 BS. A sum of Rs 13,000,000 was set aside for the project, but the money could not be released in full, an employee of the division roads office, Pokhara, said. According to the office, all the amount released earlier was spent on constructing four pillars for the bridge. The bridge was supposed to be complete within Ashar, but the office now says it will take two more years. — RSS
School to get new building:
NAWALPARASI: A new building is to be constructed for the Kalika secondary school. Kumari primary school, Saura, and Tamsariya Foundation are to provide support for the construction of the 8-room building. According to the head master of the school, Bed Prasad Neupane, the headmaster of Kumari primary school, Parsuram Sharma and the Tamsariya foundation have jointly agreed to provide a grant assistance of about Rs 1.2 million for the purpose. Neupane said classes had to be conducted outside the building due to the very bad shape of the building. He further said that the school is being run with the gaurdians’ support, which is barely enough to meet the expenses. — RSS
