Incessant rainfall destroys houses, infrastructure

Property worth millions of rupees was destroyed as houses and infrastructure collapsed due to the continuous downpour for some days in Bhojpur.

Property worth around 3 lakh rupees was destroyed after a two-storey house belonging to Tilak Bahadur Karki of Aamchowk Rural Municipality collapsed yesterday. Similarly, property worth Rs 1.5 lakh was destroyed after a house belonging to Ramesh Dhakal of Arun Rural Municipality collapsed. Likewise, a house belonging to Dhan Bahadur Rai of Ram Prasad Rai Rural Municipality also collapsed, said police. The rainfall also washed away a structure of the irrigation project in the district.

Transport service has also been obstructed as the rural roads turned muddy following rainfall in the district. The locals are facing problems reaching Manebhanjyang, Okhare, Baikunthe and Dingla from the district headquarters.

Police said landslides in various places had also affected transportation in the district.

The continuous rainfalls and the landslides that followed have hit life hard. Police said details of the damage were yet to be ascertained.
