India for Nepal’s prosperity, says Indian envoy
Pokhara, November 27
Indian ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae today said that India always wanted to see development, political stability and prosperity in Nepal.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of training on leadership development organised by Radio Safalta Pokhara in coordination with BP Koirala Nepal-India Foundation today, envoy Rae argued that India was ready to extend all kinds of support and friendship in all kinds of situations, be it favourable or unfavourable.
“India doesn’t want to meddle in Nepal’s political or non-political matters. If we succeed in pushing both the countries towards prosperity, people of both the neighbouring countries will feel self-reliant about economy,” said Ambassador Rae.
Rae underscored the need of proper coordination and mutual understanding regarding security concerns of both countries due to the open border.
He said that education was the backbone of development.
“There must not be discriminatory education policy for sons and daughters. If given the opportunity, women also can lead the country,” said Rae.
Nepali Congress General Secretary Shashank Koirala said that political stability through constitution amendment was the need of the hour. He also said there was no option to the three tiers of election for the proper implementation of the constitution in the country.
“The country can never head towards prosperity without political stability, for which constitution amendment through consensus is very critical,” said Koirala.
The leadership training was provided to women of 20 organizations of Pokhara, Kaski.
