KATHMANDU, MAY 16

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has arrived in Lumbini.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba welcomed Modi in Lumbini, where he arrived earlier today.

"Landed in Nepal. Happy to be among the wonderful people of Nepal on the special occasion of Buddha Purnima," Modi tweeted upon his arrival. "Looking forward to the programmes in Lumbini."

Furthermore, he thanked PM Deuba for his warm welcome in Lumbini.

The two Prime Ministers will offer their prayers in Lumbini, as today is Buddha Purnima, and later inaugurate the heritage centre.

Foreign Minister Narayan Khadka will pay a courtesy call on Modi, following which the Prime Ministers of the two neighbouring countries will sit for bilateral talks.

The Indian PM will return today itself after completing the day's engagements
