India ready to give all help, says Ajit Doval

KATHMANDU, May 1

National Security Adviser of India Ajit Doval, along with Indian Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar met Prime Minister Sushil Koirala today and conveyed the condolence message sent by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the loss of lives caused by the April 25 earthquake.

According to a press release issued by PM Koirala’s Press Coordinator Prakash Adhikari, Doval also told the PM that India was ready to provide any kind of help that Nepal may require in this hour of need.

PM Koirala thanked the Indian government and people for extending support to Nepal at this crucial hour, the release added.

According to the release, Koirala also appreciated the help offered by the Indian government to search and rescue quake victims. The PM also told visiting Indian authorities that India’s knowledge, skill and experience in dealing with such tragedy proved beneficial for Nepal.

The PM appreciated Indian rescuer’s efforts to search and rescue trapped victims in Kathmandu and even outside the Valley, read the release. According to the release, the PM told Indian authorities that he stopped at a site to see rescue efforts and was inspired by the work of the Indian rescue team and medical professionals.

The PM said Nepal had always benefited from India in times of emergency.

Ajit Doval said Indian PM Modi, who had seen the devastation caused by Gujarat earthquake, took immediate initiative for search and rescue operation in Nepal, the moment he learnt that a devastating earthquake had struck Nepal.

PM Koirala said the condolence message sent by the Indian PM in this hour of grief had come a solace for him.
