Kathmandu, June 22:

The Indian Embassy today handed over a sum of Rs 44,000,000 to the Department of Water-Induced Disaster Prevention for the construction of embankments along Bagmati River banks.

The Embassy said the contribution by the Indian government to the construction of embankments will be Rs 215,000,000. The first instalment of Rs 42,700,000 was released in October 2003 and the second instalment of Rs 54,000,000 was released in July 2004.
