Indian national held with smuggled gold and silver

HETAUNDA: The Makawanpur District Police Office on Sunday paraded an Indian national for his alleged involvement in smuggling gold and silver from India to Nepal.

He was arrested on Saturday by a team deployed from the Pashupatinagar Area Police Office at the Ratamate Check Post in Hetaunda-17 in the district.

Police identified the suspect as 24-year-old Arbinda Sah of Motihari in Bihar state of India.

He was arrested after police intercepted a microbus (Na 1 Ja 1723) heading to Hetaunda from Birgunj. Police also seized 70 grams of gold worth Rs 338,456 and 36 grams of silver worth Rs 2, 613 from his possession.

Meanwhile, police have sent the suspect to the Central Regional Revenue Investigation Office in Pathalaiya of Bara district for investigation and action.
