Indian nationals held with illegal drugs from Mahottari
JANAKPURDHAM: Two Indian nationals were arrested in possession of illegal drugs from Mahottari district on Wednesday.
The suspects have been identified as Anand Kumar Dube (25) and Aashish Kumar Thakur (20), both residents of Sursand, Sitamarhi in India.
The Indian Sashastra Seema Bal team had arrested them with three packets of hashish and four packets of marijuana from Jaleshwor-11 of the district.
Inspector Govinda Pokharel of Nepal's Maliwara-based Armed Police Force Border Outpost had deployed a patrol team that had held the suspects. The drugs were hidden in a 75-kg sack of sugar.
The duo were travelling on an India-registered motorbike (BR 32 B 3824) when they were arrested with the illegal substances.
According to preliminary police investigation, the drugs were brought from Bhittamod and Sursand, Indian markets near Nepal border.
Meanwhile, police also seized a sharp weapon and some Indian and Nepali currencies.
