Indian PM for solution to refugee issue

New Delhi, August 21:

Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, in a letter to the MP from Uttar Pradesh Prof Ram Gopal Yadav on August 3, said the Bhutanese refugee problem should be solved in a respectful manner by keeping in mind the welfare of the refugees. “All related authorities in India will work together with the Nepali government to improve the situation of Bhutanese refugees living in Nepal. A solution, ensuring respect and welfare of the refugees, should be worked out,” the letter said.

MP Prof Yadav had written a letter to Indian PM Singh on July 16 and raised the issue of the problems faced by Bhutanese refugees. “No solution has yet been thrashed out. However, we are working together with all concerned parties to solve this humanitarian issue,” PM Singh said.
