An Indian tourist, Bhupendra Bhai Patel, 57, from Gujarat, died of altitude sickness in Mustang on Monday.

According to Deputy Superintendent Bhoj Raj Pandey of Mustang Police, Patel succumbed to altitude sickness at Ranipauwa of Baragung Muktichhetra rural municipality-1.

Patel experienced altitude sickness while en route to Muktinath and was taken to Jomsom Hospital for treatment by the police. Unfortunately, doctors pronounced Patel dead at the hospital.

Patel, accompanied by friends and relatives, had come to visit Muktinath. A team led by Police Inspector Milan BK rescued Patel and transported him to the hospital.

Meanwhile, the area surrounding Muktinath has been experiencing snowfall since Saturday, affecting normal life due to the chilling cold.
