BAJURA, MARCH 24

A five-month-old baby of Tribeni Municipality, Bajura, is struggling for life due to the lack of treatment expenses.

The baby's father Binod Budha said his son was injured after a fire broke out on March 10.

"After his treatment was not possible, he was taken to Bayalpata Hospital in Achham and then to International Friendship Children's Hospital, Kathmandu, where he is receiving treatment on ventilator support.

According to doctors, around 30 per cent of his body has been burnt. They added that blood infection along with pneumonia had spread due to delay in treatment. Binod said more than Rs 500,000 had been spent on treatment. "I am not sure how long we have to stay in the hospital," he said.

The hospital has said there is no guarantee how long they need to stay.

The hospital added that the baby had been receiving treatment on ventilator as his condition was critical. Binod said he had even taken his son to Kailali's Mayametro and Kathmandu's Kirtipur for treatment, but in vain.

He said he had also taken loan for his son's treatment, but it was not enough. The hospital said around Rs 500,000 would be needed for his treatment.

Binod said he had been urging all the helping hands, organisations, among others, to offer help for his son's treatment.
