Info on abductee sought

DHADING:

Parsu Ram Koirala, husband of Goma Koirala, a Maoist abductee, has appealed to human rights activists to put pressure on the Maoists to make the status of his wife public. According to relatives of Goma, Maoist activists Ram Sharan Subedi (Diwakar), Narayan KC (Naresh) and a female Maoist cadre had abducted Goma, 37, from her residence at Dhading, Kebalpur-2, January 12, 2004. Parsu Ram said the Maoists had taken Goma for interrogation after Muna was killed by security forces on January 8, 2004.

He said he has repeatedly appealed to national and international human rights agencies to facilitate Goma’s release. Meanwhile, the Dhading chapter of the Human Rights Networking Committee of the NBA said the committee had recently sent a letter to the Maoist district committee, urging it to make public the status of Goma. Rights activists said the Maoists have come up with different versions about Goma’s status. The Maoists should clarify whether Goma is living or dead, they said.
