Inmates funds crisis

Gulmi: Gulmi jail inmates have started managing their daily expenses on their own after the government stopped providing them with their allowances citing funds crunch due to delay in budget. Jailer Krishna Prasad Adhikari said the inmates sell their handicraft to meet their daily expenses. “There will be a crisis if the Department of Prison Management does not send allowances next month,” he added. “We have managed an emergency fund of Rs 15,000 till now.” There are 37 inmates in the prison. The monthly expenditure for the prisoners totals Rs 30,000.
