Inmates vandalise district jail
Dhangadhi, April 25 :
Demanding amnesty and announcement of a republic , inmates of Baitadi district jail vandalised the main gate of the jail and stepped out yesterday night. They were, however, herded back into the jail.
“Nineteen inmates, including two women , smashed the main gate of the jail and forayed out last evening,” said deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Dilli Raj Bista at the Baitadi district police office (DPO), over telephone.
“Shouting slogans for a republic and seeking amnesty for all inmates, they vandalised the main gate of the district jail in Dashrath Chandra municipality and tried to gherao the Baitadi district administration office (DAO),” said Bista.
“They were forced to return by the police”, he added. Armed police forces personnel were mobilised for the security of the jail after the incident , said Baitadi Chief District Officer Chuda Mani Basyal.
