Int’l meet to discuss public policy, local development
Kathmandu, January 23:
The International Geographical Union (IGU), Commission on Geography and Public Policy (GAPP) and the Central Department of Geography, Tribhuvan University (CDGTU), Kathmandu are jointly organising an international conference on “Public Policy and Local Development: Opportunities and Challenges” here in Kathmandu and at Pokhara from February 23 - March 1.
According to a statement issued today by Prof Dr Pushkar K Pradhan, the coordinator of the conference, the main aim of the conference is to encourage young scholars, planners, policy makers working in different organisations such as university, government, non-government, international and private sector to participate in the conference through contributing papers or posters.
Prof Pradhan said over 30 scholars from different countries across the world are expected to participate in the conference. “Nepali participants will have an opportunity to interact with the international scholars about the topical issues and other academic matters. The conference outcomes would help enrich the knowledge, particularly of the domestic participants on the concepts, theories, methods and other issues related to the organisations and local development.” He said the selected papers would be published in the IGU Commission journal.
