CHITWAN: The two-year long dispute between two universities has left students of the Hetaunda Forest Campus in a serious confusion.

Five years ago, with the establishment of the Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU), it was said that the admission process at the Campus would be processed under the AFU. However, the Tribhuvan University (TU) has been continuing the admission process under its institutions creating the confusion.

At a press meet organised today in Bharatpur, the AFU requested the TU to stop admitting students and solve the issue at the earliest.

AFU Vice-Chancellor Ishwori Prasad Dhakal stated that the confusion affected quality of the education, handover of the property along with integration and management of teachers at the Campus.

AFU Registrar Suryakanta Ghimire said that the TU violated an agreement signed between the Education Minister, the Law Minister, the chief of University Grants Commission and the office bearers of the two universities, under the instruction of the Prime Minister and Chancellor of both universities.

However, Dean of the TU's Pokhara-based Institute of Forestry, Chiranjibi Upadhyaya, denied getting any letter. He said only the Academic Council could decide on the issue.

The TU and the AFU have been enrolling about 80 students per session in the Bachelor's level each, Registrar Ghimire said.

For the next session, the AFU has already enrolled its student while the TU is currently distributing forms with the entrance exam scheduled for January 9, 2016.

The AFU was established on June 17, 2010 under the Agriculture and Forestry Research University Act 2010.
