Kathmandu, August 1:

The Nepal Veterinary Association (NVA) organised an interaction on bird flu here today.

Addressing the function, Zandra Hollaway Andre, a veterinary epidemiologist from the USAID, said Nepal should focus on risk management as bird flu has not made inroads into Nepal. She called on the veterinarians to work in phases, including pre-event and post-event activities. Decontamination and prevention of re-infection should be emphasised during post- event activities, she said.

NVA president Dr BKP Shaha stressed the need to inform the people about measures that can be taken to keep bird flu at bay.
