Irate youths vandalise hospital in Rajbiraj

Rajbiraj, October 14

Angry youths and kin of the patients visiting Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital for treatment vandalised the hospital today citing mismanagement at the hospital.

A group of youths started vandalising hospital property citing the absence of Dr Gyanendra Jha and Dr Pranesh Yadav till 1:00 pm. The check-up rooms of the doctors suffered major damage.

Saptari District Police Office Deputy Superintendent of Police Tilak Bharati said furniture and documents from the check-up rooms were thrown outside. The youths also accused health workers at the hospital of dereliction of duty and chanted slogans against the hospital administration.

Meanwhile, police have arrested 22-year-old Gunjan Jha of Rajbiraj-1 for his involvement in the damage.

The hospital administration, on its part, admitted that service delivery had been difficult due to lack of manpower.

“As Dr Jha was on leave, we had only one doctor catering to all the patients, hence the problem,” said Acting Medial Superintendent Dr Dilip Sah.

“After Dr Jha took leave, we had only one doctor who would also go for rounds and look after patients in the emergency ward, The youths resorted to vandalism without considering our situation,” he explained.
