Irregularity suspected in Bajura DEO transactions

BAJURA: Irregularity was suspected in financial transactions of the Bajura District Education Office after it was revealed that it already released the budget of Rs 16.8 million to various schools without assessing if they completed the planned projects.

The DEO was found to have released Rs 2.4 million to each of the seven schools of the district for building construction while none of them completed the construction works.

Kanda Bhawani Higher Secondary School, Trishakti Higher Secondary School, Swami Kartik Higher Secondary School, Ratna Higher Secondary School, Pashupati Higher Secondary School, Toli Dewaldanda Secondary School and Dasharath Higher Secondary in various places of the district had received the fund to construct a four-room building.

DEO Technical Assistant Umesh Regmi said all of the schools already received the fund before completing the construction.

The schools were supposed to complete the works before two years, he added.

A teacher at the Trishakti School attributed the delay to the negligence of the School Management Committee.

"No one monitors here," he added, "The under-construction building is in the neglected state."

After the delay, the DEO blacklisted all of the schools for this fiscal year.
