Irrigation Ministry Secy dead, two others missing as jeep plunges into Trishuli River

DHADING: Body of Irrigation Ministry Secretary Ramananda Prasad Yadav has been recovered from Trishuli River while search is on for two others who have gone missing after the jeep they were travelling on plunged into Trishuli River early this morning.

The incident occurred when the jeep (Ba 2 Jha 3140) of Secretary Yadav fell into the river from Salangghat, Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-3 at 3:00 am today morning.

The jeep was en route to Kathmandu from Chanauta, Kapilvastu. Besides Secretary Yadav, his son Santosh Yadav and a girl Unnati Gupta were travelling in the jeep, according to Dhurba Raj Raut, Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Dhading.

The body of Secretary Yadav has been recovered. The body was found inside the jeep with the seat belt still on. Police deployed to the incident site have also indicated that Secretary Yadav was driving the jeep himself.

Search is on for the two others, while driver of the vehicle Niranjan Yadav has been rescued injured. The driver has been sent to Kathmandu for treatment, said police sources.

Meanwhile, Police Inspector at the Gajuri-based Area Police Office, Sanjaya Timilsina informed that search and rescue have been intensified to find the missing.

Nepal Police, Nepal Army, and Armed Police Force have been carrying out the rescue work, said police.
