Rajbiraj, February 12:

Suraj Marik (30) and his wife Chhotani (23) of Saptari are languishing in the Rajbiraj jail after a court convicted them of murder.

Despite the couple’s desire to bear children, they are not allowed to stay together in the

jail. An now they have decided to end their lives.

Kanchanpur Area Police Office had arrested the couple on the charge of murdering Rita Devi, Manju Devi and Chiniya Marik of Jagatpur-3 on November 23, 2004. The Saptari District Court convicted them of the crime and sentenced them for life. It also ordered confiscation of all property the couple owned on December 27, 2006.

“Our hopes are fast fading. We don’t think we will ever have children. As such, it is better to commit suicide,” the couple said.
