POKHARA, MAY 12

Rastriya Janamorcha has relieved its parliamentary party leader of Gandaki Province Krishna Thapa from the position.

Janamorcha central general-secretary Manoj Bhatta said that Thapa was removed from his post after he refused to support the formation of a new government under the leadership of the main opposition Nepali Congress. However, Thapa said that action taken against him was unlawful.

The opposition could not form the new government after Thapa's refusal to support the party decision. Earlier, Janamorcha had decided to form a new government in collaboration with the Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Centre and Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal in Gandaki Province.

A letter regarding the removal of Province Assembly member Thapa as parliamentary party leader has been registered at Gandaki Province Assembly Secretariat.

Province Chief Sita Kumari Poudel had called on political parties to form a new government within three days after sitting Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung resigned from the post on May 8.
