Khotang, April 6

Most wards of Jantedhunga Rural Municipality, Khotang, have been facing a hard time carrying out regular duties due to absence of ward secretaries.

The post of ward secretaries remains vacant throughout the municipality after the secretaries stationed there were transferred to other places.

Chair of the rural municipality Shankar Rai said the latest transfer was of ward secretary Shambhu Acharya, who was serving at Diplung. The authority concerned has not appointed ward secretaries for a long time.

Likewise, prior to Acharya’s transfer, Meghraj Ghimire stationed at Kahule was sent to Solukhumbu; Dhundiraj Dulal serving at Chisapani was transferred to Kathmandu and Laxmi Phuyal serving at Dambarkhushivalaya was transferred to Sunsari.

Sources at the rural municipality said the responsibility of secretaries of Devisthan and Chisapani had been given to assistant technician Bhim Karki for the time being. Similarly, Krishna Katawal is carrying out secretarial duties at Bopung and Dambarkhushivalaya.

In the same manner, the post of secretary is vacant in Diplung and Kahuleas as well. After the transfer of secretaries of five wards, the entire rural municipality is without a single secretary.

Two wards of Barahapokhari Rural Municipality are also running without secretaries. “Maubote and Pauwasera are also without secretaries,” said ward chair Shalik Ram Banjara.
