Japan to provide secondhand fire engine to Damak Municipality

KATHMANDU: The Japan government has decided to extend a financial support of Rs 1.67 million to Damak Municipality to acquire a secondhand fire engine under the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects Scheme.

The machine would be purchased from Myozai Fire Department, Japan in coordination with the Tokushima-Nepal Friendship Association, stated a press release issued by the Embassy of Japan in Kathmandu today.

A grant contract for the same would be signed by Shinya Machida, Charge d'Affaires Ad Interim of the the Kathmandu-based Japanese Embassy, and Yubaraj Dahal, Executive Officer of Damak Municipality in Kathmandu, on Tuesday.

The Embassy said it expected that the success of this project would benefit local people of Damak and would also enhance the cordial friendship between the peoples of Japan and Nepal.

The Municipality with the two fire engines, one newly added, would help the administration to enhance their capacity to better respond to the fire incidents in the district.
