Jeep-hit kills pedestrian in Kanchanpur

BHIMDUTTANAGAR: A person died after a jeep knocked him down along the East-West Highway in Bhimdutta Municipality-6 of Kanchanpur district on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as a local resident Mohan Chand (45).

The jeep bearing Indian registration number (UK 037101) heading to Bhimduttanagar from Gaddachauki hit Chand killing him on the spot last night, according to Kanchanpur District Police Office.

The relatives of the deceased have not allowed removal of the body from the accident site demanding action against the jeep driver, informed police.

The search for the jeep is underway, said police.

Likewise, a pedestrian Bihari Roy (45) of Dhanpalthan Rural Municipality-6 in Morang district died after a motorcycle (Ko 23 Pa 6167) hit him, at around 11.30 pm on Thursday.

The motorcycle rider, who sustained injuries in the incident, has been identified as Saroj Urau of Katahari Rural Municipality-5 in Morang.

Roy, who sustained critical injuries along the Rangeli-Biratnagar road section in Dhanpalthan Rural Municipality died on the way to a health facility while Urau has been receiving treatment at the Biratnagar-based Koshi Zonal Hospital.
