Preparations are under way to operate jet boat service on the border of Rautahat and Sarlahi districts in Bagmati Municipality.

The jet boat service will come into operation in the country's biggest man-made Bagmati Lake to attract tourists from tomorrow.

The lake was constructed on 121 bigha land on the banks of Bagmati River in Bagmati Municipality, Sarlahi.

Chairman Gautam Khadka of Bagmati Entertainment Private Limited said the boat service would come into operation from tomorrow. He said a jet boat with 35 seats would be operated in the artificial lake that lies three kilometres south from Karmaiya along the East-West Highway. Thousands of tourists from different places of Province 2 are expected to come to enjoy boat ride on a daily basis.

Mayor Bharat Thapa of Bagmati Municipality said the biggest man-made lake was constructed at the initiative of the municipality. He said the lake was 35 feet deep and spread over 121 bigha land. Thapa said the lake was constructed to promote domestic tourism and also provide jobs to local youths. The municipality constructed the lake using water from the Bagmati River in the land of Sagarmatha Forest Development Project.
