KATHMANDU: Home Workers' Trade Union of Nepal (HUN) on Tuesday formed its Jhapa District Committee under the leadership of Inchu Danuwar.

A gathering of home-based workers in Birtamod of Jhapa formed the seven-member committee.

Pestol Dhimal, Ranju Dhimal, Aasha Danuwar and Sharada Danuwar are Vice-President, Secretary, Joint-Secretary and Treasurer of the Committee respectively. Pabitra Dhmal and Sanja Chaudhary are members.

HUN is an affiliate of the ruling CPN-UML-aligned General Federation of Nepale Trade Unions (GeFONT).

Before establishment of the committee, trade union leaders representing various committees and affiliates of the GeFONT had explained importance of trade union for rights of labourers and motivated them for the unionism.

Total 40 workers were present at the gathering.
