BANIYANI, JHAPA: An elderly citizen has died in course of casting his vote in the second phase of the local elections here in Jhapa district today.

The deceased has been identified as 85–year-old Narendra Bhandari of Himali tole in Damak Municipality-9, according to the Damak-based Area Police Office.

Bhandari had gone to cast his vote at Saraswati Higher Secondary School. He was heading to cast his vote after taking the ballot paper when he suddenly collapsed.

Bhandari breathed his last while being rushed to the Damak-based Lifeline Hospital at 7:40 am, police said.

Bhandari was a heart patient.
