Jitjung Basnet elected Nepal Tarun Dal President
KATHMANDU: The fourth general convention of Nepal Tarun Dal (NTD) unanimously elected Jitjung Basnet as its new President.
Basnet was elected the President of the youth wing of the Nepali Congress on the fifth day of the ongoing gala being held in Pokhara, according to the NTD General Convention Directive Committee member Ram Krishna Yadav.
Although the new President is said to be elected on the basis of consensus, the leaders were reported to have chosen a new leadership through power sharing among key party leaders .
Meanwhile, the post of Vice-President is assumed by Uttam Chapagain.Similarly, Bhupendra Jung Shahi and
Similarly, Bhupendra Jung Shahi and Bidwan Gurung were elected to the post of General Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
It is learnt that the newly elected NTD President Basnet is close to NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba. Likewise, the new General Secretary is said to be close to leader Ram Chandra Paudel and the Treasurer to another leader Khum Bahadur Khadka.
As per the NTD revised statute, there should be 95 members in the Central Committee. The name list of the remaining members would be decided by the next meeting of Directive Committee in Kathmandu, said the Directive Committee member Yadav.
