A joint security team has arrested a 20-year-old auto driver along with a large quantity of drugs from the Gaur customs area in Rautahat district on Friday afternoon.
The joint team, comprising personnel from the Armed Police Force, Nepal Border Security Battalian Gaur, and Nepal Police customs security guards, intercepted the vehicle during a checkpoint inspection around 12:00 PM at Customs Dhaat in Gaur Municipality-2.
According to DSP Prem Sagar Bista, the authorities grew suspicious of an auto bearing registration number Madhesh Province 03-003 Ha 1110 coming from India towards Nepal. During the search, they discovered a large consignment of banned drugs hidden under the driver's seat.
Seized drugs include 100 pieces of Diazepam Injection IP (2 ml), 100 pieces of Promethazine Hydrochloride Injection IP (2 ml), 100 pieces of Buprenorphine Injection (2 ml), and approximately 5 grams of suspected cannabis
The arrested individual has been identified as Mohan Pandit, 20, of Mudwalwa village, Rajdevi-7, Rautahat. Police also seized Nepali currency Rs 490, Indian currency Rs 100, one Android mobile phone, and the auto rickshaw.
DSP Bista informed that Pandit has been handed over to the District Police Office, Rautahat, for further investigation and legal action. He added that the Armed Police Force is maintaining special surveillance on illegal drugs and contraband items.
