Joint secy faces graft charge
Kathmandu, February 15:
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) today filed a charge-sheet at the Special Court against joint-secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nagendra Prasad Ghimire, on the charge of illegally amassing property worth Rs 16,976,538 and depositing it in his wife’s name.
Demanding that the amount be collected and fine imposed on Ghimire, the CIAA has also called for the imprisonment of Ghimire.
According to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, a probe into Ghimire’s property showed that he possessed only about four katthas of land in Biratnagar sub-metropolitan city as parental property. Accused Ghimire and members of his family jointly own approximately Rs 2.4 million deposited in different banks, the CIAA said, adding the amount showed up after Ghimire became the director-general of the Department of Civil Aviation.
