Journalists seek easy access to information

Damauli, March 24

Journalists from various media houses complained they were deprived of information by state-owned offices in the district.

The journalists came up with the complaint at an interaction organised by Reporters’ Club Damauli chapter, Tanahun today.

They requested the concerned authority to help make information accessible and transparent.

They concluded they were deprived of the facility due to lack of proper coordination between information providers and recipients.

The reporters held discussions on information, importance of right to information and ways to collect it.

Acting Chief District Officer Kishor Kumar Chaudhary pledged to appoint information officer in each government office, manage citizens’ charter and set up a complaint box. He also stressed the need of information for the public to ensure good governance.

Local Development Officer Uday Bahadur Rana underscored the importance of mutual cooperation between information providers and receivers.

Federation of Nepali Journalists Tanahun Chapter Chairperson Dambar Adhikari, former Chairpersons of FNJ Pradeep Kafle and Prakash Chandra Bhattarai, Reporters’ Club Tanahun chapter Chairperson Madan Wagle, Press Chautari Tanahun Chairperson Narayan Khadka, among other speakers, highlighted the importance of making information about government offices accessible and transparent.
