Journalist Jagdishor Panday was awarded in New Jersey, USA.

Panday, who has been reporting for media outlets for more than 12 years, was awarded by Joyce E. Watterman, the Council President of Office of the City Council City of Jersey City, for his national and international contribution through Nepali journalism and media field.

The award by presented on Friday during the 6th Annual The Red Saree Event organized by Hudson Speaks Against Sexual Violence (HSASV). The award was handed over by Cinthiya Vazquez, Interim Director, Department of Health and Human Service in the City of Jersey, and Senior Program Coordinator of the HSASV Bishnu Maya Pariyar on behalf of Council President Watterman.

The award explained Panday's writings as foreign affairs, geo-political, and defense reporter for the last 12 years have contributed immensely to quality journalism.

'His investigative reporting on foreign affairs including UN Peacekeeping missions, COVID-19 pandemic, and national security issues have brought profound change to how readers consumed news in times of nation's despair and dilemma,' the awarded letter reads,'Panday is the recipient of prestigious Raham Al-Farra (RAF) Memorial Journalism Fellowship by the United Nations. He was selected as one of the 19 and 12 fellows in 2021 and 2023 respectively for the RAF program.'

Moreover, Panday also contributed as a mentor and jury for the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA-Asia) 's Mentorship Program in 2023, the letter reads. Panday currently works with the Kantipur Daily newspaper.
