BARA, APRIL 16

Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal has recommended names of seven persons for the post of mayor and deputy-mayor in Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan City in Bara.

A meeting of the party chaired by party Chair Shivnath Patel recommended three individuals including former member of Constituent Assembly Pramod Gupta for the post of mayor. The other recommended individuals are Dharmendra Yadav and Sunil Das. Likewise, Umarawati Yadav, Laxmi Patel, Prakash Chaigai and Shankar Yadav have been recommended for the post of deputy-mayor. JSP-N has nominated the names for mayor and deputy mayor after each party in the five-party alliance staked claim for the major posts.

In the last local levels, the Nepali Congress had secured the first position while JSP-N had come third and the CPN-UML had come in the second position.

The NC seems strong and mayor Rajesh Ray Yadav, who was elected as the Bara district president, is preparing for re-election.

JSP-N is highly unlikely to forge electoral alliance with the NC in the local polls.
