JTMM-J cadre held with arms

Birgunj, June 4:

Parsa district coordinator of the Jwala Singh-led Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM-J) Ajay Prajapati, alias Ashish Singh, was arrested from his house at Pipra in Birgunj-17 today.

Police reached Prajapati’s house after they got information that sounds of gunfire were heard there. Prajapati’s father Ram Chandra and uncle Ramji Prasad Kumhal were engaged in a clash over land ownership when the shots were fired.

Eight persons were injured in the clash. Janaki Devi Kumhal, Ashok Prajapati, Babita Devi and Sarita Devi sustained bullet injuries when Ajay’s elder brother Bijay Prajapati opened fire, SP Jai Bahadur Chand said.

Janaki Devi, who was critically injured, is undergoing treatment in Narayani Sub-regional hospital in Birgunj. Ajay, Ram Chandra and Bijay are in the custody of the Parsa District Police Office.

During interrogation, police found out that Ajay was the coordinator of the JTMM-J.

Two countrymade pistols, a rifle, two mobile phone sets and a diary were recovered from Ajay’s residence.

Also today, police arrested Ramesh Kumhal and a Birgunj sub-metropolis staffer Rajesh Regmi for their alleged links with the JTMM-J.
