JTMM-J Parsa chief shot dead; youth abducted

Birgunj, September 27:

Parsa chief of the Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha-Jwala Singh (JTMM-J) Dharmanath Kurmi alias Sudhir Pandey was gunned down by an unidentified gang in Parsa district today.

The gang shot dead 26-year old Kurmi, a permanent resident of Langadi Village Development Committee-7, in Maniyari VDC this afternoon, said Yogeshwor Romkhami, superintendent of police at the Parsa District Police Office.

According to local residents, the shooters came in three motorcycles, shot dead the JTMM-J Parsa chief and fled the scene.

Kurmi’s body has been brought to the Birgunj-based Narayani Sub-regional Hospital for post-mortem, the police said.

Before joining JTMM-J, Kurmi was Parsa district in-charge of the Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (Prithvi).

Police have been cracking down on armed outfits operating in Tarai.

Meanwhile, an armed gang abducted Ajim Akatar, 32, from his house in Silorwa Pachhabari 4 of Siraha district yesterday, the Area police office Sukhipur said.

No one has owned up to the incident.
