Senior litterateur Kamal Mani Dixit passes away at 87

Senior litterateur and chairman of Madan Puraskar Guthi as well as Madan Puraskar Pustakalaya, Kamal Mani Dixit, died at his residence in Patan Dhoka, Lalitpur in the wee hours of  Thursday morning. He was 87.

He suffered from respiratory problems for sometime, Madan Puraskar Pustakalaya said in a statement.

Dixit breathed his last at 2:45 am. He will be cremated at Aryaghat on the bank of Bagmati River in Pashupati area today itself, according to Madan Puraskar Pustakalaya.

Dixit was born in Gairidhara of Kathmandu on September 2, 1929 as second son of Kedar Mani Acharya and Vidya Devi.

As many as 75 books are credited to him. His personal website shows he has written 55 of them, edited 22 and translated three into Nepali.

He is survived by two sons -- Kanak and Kunda -- and one daughter -- Rupa.
