Thapa justifies joining government

HETAUDA: Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairperson and Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa described his party’s decision to join the government as a ‘compulsion’.

Speaking at a reception organised by RPP Makawanpur on Tuesday, Thapa said, “We joined the government as the decision of a party in the ruling coalition to forge electoral alliance with the main opposition had jeopardised the scheduled elections. Now that we’ve joined the government the risk looming over elections is no more there,” added Thapa.

He claimed that the recently formed democratic alliance of which his party is a member would win elections.

Thapa, who doubles as energy minister, monitored the under-construction Kulekhani III hydropower project and directed officials to expedite work to ensure that the project was completed in time.

He also visited the NEA Hetauda regional office and directed the staff there to end leakage of electricity.
