Kamal Thapa roots for referendum

BARA: Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal Kamal Thapa today said that the statute drafting process was more important than the formation of a new government.

Speaking at a mass meet in Kalaiya, Thapa said, “Opinion of the people should be collected over serious issues such as Hinduism, constitutional monarchy and federalism.” He added that those issues should be settled according to the will of the people and not merely by decisions of political parties.

Thapa also claimed that democracy would not be institutionalised without Monarchy in Nepal. He, however, warned of totalitarianism in the country if the extreme leftist get into power. He further dubbed the movement of the UCPN-M as merely a ‘ladder’ to capture power, while the HLPM was ‘club’ to hatch conspiracy.
