Karki for national consensus govt

Okhaldhunga, March 14

Unified CPN-Maoist politburo member Ram Karki has pointed out that implementation of the constitution would be difficult until all major political parties were involved in the government.

Speaking with mediapersons in Okhaldhunga bazaar today, Karki said his party was in favour of a national consensus government to facilitate the successful implementation of the newly promulgated statute.

“The statute has been created with the joint efforts of major parties and now it is time for the parties to stand united once again for the successful enactment of the constitution.

For this, Nepali Congress should also join the CPN-UML and our party in the government,” he said, adding that discussion on the prospects of a national consensus government would begin soon.

“If need be, we should also be ready for change of guard. However, what we need to do at this juncture, is form a consensus government that will help in the successful implementation of the statute,” he argued.

He also criticised the incumbent government for its failure to ensure the smooth supply of basic necessities to the people.

“To tell the truth, the government’s negligence is evident as it has utterly failed to mark its presence in such a difficult time.

Even our party has voiced dissatisfaction with the performance of the present government,” he said.
