DHANGADI, MAY 25

If everything goes as planned, Khaptad will be hosting its first international spiritual conclave in this famed tourism destination of Sudurpaschim Province.

The international programme, conceived as instrumental for the promotion of tourism and set to be organised by Khaptad Tourism Development and Management Committee, will be held from June 6 to 8.

As learnt, celebrity yog guru Baba Ramdev along with Acharya Balkrishna and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal will be gracing the programme with their presence.

A 401-member main organising committee led by Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah of Sudurpaschim Province government has been formed to organise the programme.

There are 12 sub-committees put together under the main committee.

Additionally, preparation and management committee has also been formed under the coordination of Khaptad Region Tourism Development and Management Committee Chair Harka Bahadur Singh.

"The programme will be inaugurated by the prime minister," said Khaptad Region Tourism and Management Committee Executive Director Bhim Bahadur Khadka, adding that dignitaries including former prime ministers, ministers, MPs, spiritual leaders and gurus, chiefs of all local levels across the province, tourism entrepreneurs and journalists will be attending the gathering.

The programme has the financial support of the provincial government, provincial tourism board and local levels here.

Khaptad region lies at an altitude of 3,200 metres from sea level and is spread in four districts - Bajhang, Bajura, Doti and Achham.

The idyllic place, spread over 225 square kilometres, is known as the site where Khaptadbaba spent five decades performing his sadhana. The place is still untouched by road transport.

One who wants to get there has to take a vehicle up to Doti's Jhigrana from where it takes a day's trek to reach Khaptad.
