KHOTANG: Property worth more than Rs 1.5 million was gutted in fire at Mahadevsthan VDC in Khotang district on Monday.

Two houses and other properties of Dal Bahadur Basnet of Halesi village in Mahadevsthan VDC-4 were gutted to cinder after the fire broke out from the flame on Monday afternoon, Police Inspector Saroj Rai said.

Local residents said that apart from property destroyed including Rs 500,000 in cash; the family lost a he-goat, clothes, foodstuff and other properties too were destroyed in the fire.

Police and Nepal Army personnel from the nearby barrack and local residents extinguished the fire.

Police said that the Basnet family is taking shelter in their neighbours'.
