Kidnapped Indian trader rescued

An Indian trader abducted from Saptari’s Kanchanpur Municipality was freed safely yesterday morning.

A police team led by Inspector Dilli Bahadur Chauhan  at Area Police Office, Kanchanpur, rescued Amit Kumar Sarada, who was held hostage in Ambar Bahadur  Gurung’s home at Kanchanpur Municipality-12. He was kidnapped last Sunday.

A resident of Bhimnagar Gram Panchayat of Supaul district in Bihar, Sharada, 33, a cloth trader was kidnapped while he was in Saptari for business purpose.

Organising a press meet yesterday evening, District Police Office, Saptari, made the three kidnappers public. Those arrested are Ambarnath Biswas, 28, Puskar Mahato, 26 and Sailendra Gupta, 28. Police have seized two pistols and a car used for abduction.

Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar Singh said the kidnappers had devised a plan to seek a ransom of Rs 30 million from Sharada’s family and distribute Rs 10 million each among them.

Sharada runs Chandrika Bastralaya in Bhimnagar, India. Magar from whose house Sharada was rescued is still at large. A manhunt to nab Magar is under way, Superintendent of Police Singh said.

A day after he was abducted, Sharada’s family members had filed a case at Bhimnagar police.  As family members reported to the Indian police that Sharada was missing after he entered Nepal for business purpose, Indian police had sought support from Nepal police to find out the trader. On Indian Police’s request, Area Police Office, Kanchanpur,  started the search operation.
