Rajbiraj, March 1:
About 12 children of different VDCs of Saptari district, who fell sick after being administered with anti-measles vaccines, are yet to receive compensation.
The children, including three-year-old Krishnanand Yadav and Rishi Gurmita, had fallen sick after being administered with the anti-measles vaccines during the National Anti-Measles Campaign last September and October. “The District Public Health Office (DPHO), Saptari, had said that it would provide us with the treatment expenses, but we are yet to receive it,” Jayakrishna Gurumita, Rishi’s father from Jamunimdhepura VDC-2 said. “We are tired of visiting the DPHO for the compensation,” he said.
When asked, Chandradev Mahato, chief of the DPHO, said letters have been sent to the Child Health Division to release budget to provide as compensation to the children, but the traffic blockade has caused delay in delivery of the money. Meanwhile, the children who had fallen sick have already returned home after getting treatment.
