Killers of Congress leader still at large

Janakpurdham, February 7

Dhanusha police today started micro-investigation into the shooting of a Nepali Congress leader in the district on Friday.

Rajendra Yadav of Balakhabar-4, Bairiya was shot dead in Dhanusha on Friday night.

Similarly, Nasimullaha Rain, 40, of a Charnath municipality-2 of Dhanusha received bullet injuries at the local Birendra Chowk.

Both the victims were selected as electoral constituency representatives from the recent convention of the Nepali Congress.

Yadav’s last rites were performed yesterday while the injured Rain has been receiving treatment in a Kathmandu-based health facility. District Police Office Dhanusha DSP Nakul Pokhrel said that investigation into both the incidents was under way.

However, police are yet to find any clue about the murder though more than 24 hours have elapsed since the incidents took place.

Inspector General of Nepal Police Upendra Kanta Aryal, who came to Janakpur soon after the incidents, directed the police administration to nab the guilty and take necessary action against them pronto.

IGP Aryal was accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police Ramesh

Kharel. “We have launched investigation into the incidents from various angles. However, we have not been able to arrest any perpetrator so far,” said spokesperson and DSP Pokhrel.

However, Nepali Congress Dhanusha has yet to formally make the incident public.

Though an underground outfit by the name of Janatantrik Tiger Janashakti Party has taken responsibility for both the incidents, no new discovery has been made yet.

The incidents came as a shock to many at a time when the party’s general convention is ahead.
